Security and fine quality of tablet packing are two characteristics that must be taken care of by the manufacturer if he desires to gain the buyer’s trust. The packaging serves to preserve against external factors, possibly modifying the pharmaceutical’s characteristics (for instance sunlight or high temperature). Moreover, it is supposed to protect against mechanical damage and biological contamination. Most importantly, however, it is supposed to enable suitable medicine recognition. Thus, the packaging must include the name of the regularly employed active substance incorporated in the given medicinal product. If more of them is implemented, all must be nominated and a plus symbol should be located between them. The package should also include info on whether the product is meant for infants, kids or grown-ups. The method of dosage, the warnings concerning the place and method of storage, the expiry date, name and address of the manufacturer responsible, the marketing ( – lokalisering) permission number, batch number and instructions for dosage must as well be given if the pharmaceutical product is sold without a prescription. There are as well special guidelines for packaging graphic layouts.

Placing pictures such as chocolate, toys or balloons on them is strictly forbidden. This may result in a patient being misguided and treating the drug as for example food.
